Description:
The demolition at the former Clares Factory in Swindon was a long term project, with the works taking place over a number of complex stages. The project was an example of a high profile, multifaceted and complex job that was completed to a high environmental and industry standard, as well as being delivered on time and on budget. The site was of historical interest, having originally been part of the Great Western Railway works, while at the same time situated in the heart of a modern town development. The works were also reported on by UK press as an example of the effects of the Empty Property Rates introduced by the Government. The works included phase by phase demolition, from initial soft strip and removal of asbestos containing materials through to the mechanical dismantling of the building.
